getting weighed!
waiting for the doctor to come in...
I took Avery to her first doctors appointment on Friday. She is gaining a good amount of weight! She weighs 7 lbs 15 oz. now, which means she's gained 10 oz. since we left the hospital. She should be gaining weight since she eats ALL THE TIME. She sometimes wants to eat only 40 minutes after she last ate. I actually pumped for the first time today and she took a bottle fine. I figured she would since I use a nipple sheild when I nurse her. I got her to latch on once without it, but she hasn't since then. I've noticed that she's a very lazy nurser and she often falls asleep while nursing so I have to wake her up alot. My emotions are slowly getting better. Today is actually the first day that I haven't cried since we brought her home (I know I said that in my post a few days ago, but I cried later that day of course!). I guess I just wasn't prepared for the emotional rollercoaster that happens after having a baby. I'm so lucky to have my husband, who has been really supportive.
She is so cute!! I was just thinking of you, and then I saw you posted! :) Hun, today was my first day I havent cried too (seriously)!! Had the baby 2 weeks ago and I cry out of the blue!! The emotions totally suck, but you have to go through them and eventually they taper off! How are you doing? How is your recovery going?
ReplyDeleteMy recovery is going well. I feel so much better physically!
ReplyDeletei totally know how you feel- i had some of the same feelings after we came home. but DONT worry they will completely go away in a couple weeks!! also, i had to use a nipple shield as well and lily wont nurse without it either- it sucks but whatever works huh?? just keep trying- were 10 weeks now and still trying. she does do ok without it ONLY when she is not TOO hungry- so i try to start out with it then take it off. just a thought- im so proud of you for sticking with it!! its touch- but around 6-8 weeks you will fall into it being so very EASY!! GOOD LUCK!! congrats... and she is absolutely beautiful!!! <3
ReplyDeleteYea it's kind of a pain to keep using the nipple shield. She has latched on a couple times without it, but since she's so used to the sheild it hurts so bad! She doesn't open her mouth wide enough and I think the shield has also made her lazy. I'm waiting for the day that I wake up and feel totally back to my normal self! Thanks :)
